Learning To Upholster
Upholstery is often easier than it seems. You might have seen people reupholstering furniture quickly on TV or online. However, learning upholstery takes time and practice, just like any skill!
Anyone can learn to upholster with some effort, and you don’t need any special knowledge or DIY experience to start. It’s best for beginners to start small and gradually take on more complex projects. For instance, don’t start with a large armchair or sofa. Instead, begin with simpler items like footstools, ottomans, dining chairs, or headboards. These have straight lines, making them easier to work with.
Once you’re familiar with the basics and have practiced on a few simple pieces, you can tackle more challenging projects. A dining room chair pad is a recommended starting point for practice and then you can jump onto the next suggested upholstery project like a headboard or seat bench.
